RuffBook

A few days ago when I was surfing the Internet, I stumbled on a contest. (Yes, another contest which I probably have no chance to win)

It is the the free laptop giveaway by The Thinking Blog, isn't that awesome? You can get a free laptop! But, it isn't an ordinary laptop, it's a RUFFBook! (Rough) Wondering how good is the RuffBook?

It's able to withstand a rugged person

As my one of my cousin mentioned to me before, I'm a rugged person, I probably will spill over water over my laptop if I ever get one and the whole laptop will be dysfunctional. (Maybe there's external keyboard but I am a newbie when it comes to laptop, kay?)and how rugged I am? even my other cousin decided to name my PC RUGGED when he reformatted my computer.

No more worries for mum-spilt-tea-over-my-keyboard-cause-I-won't-stop-online

This actually happened to me years ago before I moved my computer from the living room to my bedroom. My mum actually got angry cause I was still online; playing online games despite it's 4 in the morning so she decided to grab my tea and spill it over my keyboard. After that incident, I have learnt to always have your keyboard wrapper around your keyboard ALL THE TIME. RuffBook is water-resistant therefore I don't have to worry about my mum anymore!

Please ignore my dirty desk, thank you.

It protects you from tripping over the modem and router's cable

According to the website,

Ports
Internal PCMCIA Module, 3 USB 2.0 Ports, 1 Serial Port (RS-232), 1 IEEE1394 Port, 1 LAN Port (RJ-45), 1 Modem Port (RJ-11), 1 VGA Port, 1 S-Video Port, Smart Media Card Reader (4 in 1, supports MS / MS Pro / SD / MMC)

so I guess you don't have to worry bout the cables under the your table (It rhymes!) which sometimes you tend to kick for a little bit especially when you're getting frustrated over your ISP. (It's not a good thing to do; I know so don't follow this at home)Plus, it has wireless accesibility. And no, I don't really understand those Codes/Names written above and all I know is there are LAN and modem.

The paint is tearing off my wall, now you know how poor I am since I can't even afford a can of paint...

No more siren sound

I doubt everyone knows what does siren sound means. Well, of course since most of YOUs live in a much colder place compared to me... it actually means your computer gets overheat! Especially if your computer has a rugged owner which hardly switches off her computer.

Environment
- Temperature: Operating: 5°C to 35°C, Non-operating: -20°C to 60°C)
- Humidity: 20% to 80% RH, non-condensing
- Vibration: According to Mil-Std 810F Method 514.5, Procedure 1, Category 10, Fig 16 & 17, ASTM 4169 Truck Transport, 11.5.2 Random Test, Assurance Level II
- Drop: According to MIL-STD-810F, Method 516.4, Procedure IV, Height Modified. 26" height free drop on to plywood (26 times)
- Enclosure: Magnesium Alloy Case – 20 Times Stronger than ABS Plastic, offering Higher Survival after drops and bumps
- Added Protection to Critical Components: i.e. CPU, RAM, HDD, and ODD
- Added Protection Against Vibration: Rubber Protection Surrounding LCD & HDD Area
- Regulation: FCC, CSA, CE, CB

According to the website(again), RuffBook can withstands temperature in between 5°C to 35°C which is good I guess since my computer can hardly withstand being ON especially in the afternoon without opening the CPU's casing. (Around 34 degrees inside my room since my fan is always switched on)

Air flow is good for your computer and you so do open your window once in a while

Most importantly, it's much smaller than my current computer.

This might not be related to only RuffBook but it's heavily related to what I want. My cpu, mouse, keyboard, speakers and monitor takes up like 80% of my desk's space. Moreover, I am a lazy person, I always put everything on my desk. IF I have a laptop, I can put more things on my desk and be lazier.

Oh yeah, and it has a smaller web cam compared to my current one and it's highly resolutionized (I wonder if such word exists) so you can save more space too!

The green octopus isn't included when you purchase the webcam I'm using

If my review isn't persuasive enough to make you consider buying one, you may read the testimonials. If you're interested, you may click here to read about different Ruff PC's products.

You can also read more about RuffBook's specifications HERE

Here are the how-rough-Ruff-PC-is' pictures

Just a small proof that all the pictures taken of a bulky, non-water resistant, with-cables;alot-of-cables-too and casing-opened computer belong to me.
